Hello all,

The Beijing travel guide is coming along really well, so we thought it would be a cool idea to get it really complete before the Beijing Olympics kick off this year. Anyone who's been to Beijing before, feel free to contribute and help travellers heading over there later this year.

Here's a few areas that currently need work:

  • Neighbourhoods - A bit more about the main neighbourhoods would be good. Even better would be sub-articles written about some of the major neighbourhoods.
  • Evens and Festivals - Only the Olympics mentioned currently... Anyone know of any other good ones?
  • Eat - Maybe some specific suggestions according to neighbourhoods would be good here. Any markets or streets renowned for their quality food?

Other than those ideas, I think it could be good to have an article specifically about the Beijing Olympics. Look at the UEFA Euro 2008 article ( for an idea of the kind of information to include.

By the way, thanks to Lavafalls who has done tons of work to make this article as good as it is!

Hi Dr Pepper,

Guess I could contribute a lil since we just made a trip round Asia, and had an amazing time in Beijing..

Eating wise, we had an interesting experience in Ge Ge Imperial Restaurant (could get the address for u later)- where we tried Imperial cuisine for the first time - what Emperors and Empresses used to eat in the ancient times- and where I also got the chance to get dressed up like a real Dowager in traditional silky royal costumes, and get entertained by their Chinese dancers.

It was definitely one of its kind, it's not in the citycentre, bt a cheap taxi ride for 10RMB was all it took to bring us back in time, to ancient China.
