We are looking for inspiration on a moments madness booked in STA a few weeks back...me and my boyfriend are leaving for Mexico City end of October..until 2nd Week of March.....when we fly out of Santiago Chile.
Were do we start with the planning!!! Obviously we would like to see as much as possible whilst spending as least as possible!!!
Has anyone done a similar trip?
Any definite dos and dont's?
Keen to hear people ideas...we are shifting through the many ideas listed already!
Thank you and happy travelling to everyone x x
Hi.. Me and my boyfriend are doing a very similar trip. We fly out to Mexico City on 2nd dec and are travelling thru Central & South America for 9 ish months eventually flying out of Rio.
I've been doing so much research.. and there so much to see and do! Are you planning to try & visit all countries in central?? We're trying to stick to less expensive ones i.e. guatemala, honduras, nicaragua and panama but will hopefully be able to see most of them, maybe a week in mexico, belize and then more time in Costa Rica and El Salvador.. we're on a pretty tight budget (pending the amount we manage to save!) What are you planning on budget wise??
Its all so exciting.. only six and a bit months to go, yay!!
Hi, that sounds cool...wow 9 months is a nice amount of time,
We haven't scheduled a budget as such which is prob terrible, we are just working like mad at the moment!!
We plan to spend a bit of time in mexico, prob like a week or 2, then move into guatemala, through into honduras, nicargua, costa rica briefly then panama then fly to venezuala where we plan to be for xmas (we think), we plan to do that in about 6 weeks max! We hope to do it all overland via buses then one flight out of central america.
We are in really early planning of it all...so still kinda bouncing ideas around still and drawing lines all over the maps in the lonely planet shoe string books we have got!
It would be cool to keep in touch and see how your plans are going! x
Venezuela is getting more and more expensiv since the have the Bolivar fuerte.
the goverment, respectiv Chaves is changing Venezuela more to another Cuba.
I would spend more time in Mexico as there is much more to see there.
Venezuela has beautyful landscape but nothing like mayan or inka cultural sites.
Just a thought, if you make it to Brazil...check out the Pantanal...the worlds largest wetland. I was there recently with Joanne Williams and it was amazing. So many animals and birds....really great if you're into photography!
Thank you guys...shall bare it all in mind...its sooo hard to try and fit everything in!!
Its sooo hard to know how much to budget.. but as you said we're just working like mad at moment too, altho summer's coming up & there are so many things to do.. needless to say the boyfriend is well ahead in the saving stakes but I've managed to pay off about £4000 worth of debt, so I'm pretty happy with my efforts, didn't wanna go away with that looming over me!
We would love to go to Venezuela but I just don't think we're gonna be able to fit in.. think we're gonna stick to colombia, equador, peru, bolivia, argentina & brazil.. but no doubt I'll plans will change and we'll end up going a totally different route! But its cool to have a rough route planned, at least you know what you wanna see and do.
We should definitely keep in touch.. maybe I'll paths will cross when we're out there, who knows??
Have fun with your planning, em
