Hi,

I am preparing for a cycling trip (approximately 850 km) along the Southern coast of England and cutting North into Wales (cycling around the Bristol Channel). We would really like to make it out to Lands End on our trip but just don't have the time to make it that far West since we need to cycle East to get around the channel and into Wales. Is there somewhere in North Devon (near Ilfracombe) that me and five other cyclists can catch a boat across the Bristol Channel into Wales?

Thanks!

Hi,
As far as I know the projected ferry from Ilfracombe to South Wales is still just that but there was hope that it would start this year so it might be worth contacting the Tourist Information Office in Ilfracombe.
Cheers
David

There are a couple of boats from Ilfracombe, paddle steamers operated by Waverley Excursions. They only run on certain days though so the planning would have to be careful. Also, see the note here about carrying bikes.
