Hey guys - ok so I know this is going to sound silly but I have an awful fear of spiders... doesnt matter what size or anything! Im petrified of them all... I freak out and loose my breath and stuff. Once when I was in Egypt I saw a real life black widow spider and I full on passed out...
In Jan 09 Im going to Thailand and Australia... Anyone with experience, be honest... am I likely to see many over there?? I was considering hypnosis....

hmmm... well you might see one in australia. it depends wher eyou are really... if youre rummaging around a wood pile youre likely to see one, a big one! if youre in the city youre much less likely, but still, you might....

we have some fairly big spiders... alot are not poisonous, but some also are.

i wouldnt worry too much, but there IS a chance youll see one or two!

The spider you're most likely to see in Australia, IF you see any, is the Huntsman. These are brown, and look far scarier than they actually are! Related to the tarantulas, it's a fairly big spider however it's unlikely to bite a person, and it's not going to kill you anyway. It would more than likely move away from you then show any sign of aggression.

The worst spider is probably the Funnel Web in the Sydney/NSW area. Chances are you won't see one during your stay - although I managed to see 2 of them within a space of a month quite a few years ago!
