Hello all of you happy travelers,

I have a hypothetical situation for you. If you were to buy a one way ticket (which I have) and your destination were to be Saigon, Vietnam (which mine is), how do you get back to America without flying (and time restraints are not an issue)?

I am planning on trekking all over Vietnam and a few of the outer lying countries of South East Asia. Anyone know of any boats that would get me back? I would rather not fly, and was thinking about maybe working on a cruise, cargo ship, or something along those lines to get me back. Possibilities? Restrictions? Yae's and Nae's? How would yall do it?

Just curious.

I would think that it would be easier to crew on a yacht back to the States. I believe it would be possible to travel the S. Pacific from Australia, and you could go overland via Cambodia, Thailand to Malaysia. From there I believe there is some sort of ferry service through Indonesia's islands, and just guessing that there might be some sort of passenger boat headed to Darwin in the far north of Oz.

There's not a regular passenger ferry between Aus and Asia, you have to use cruises, cargo boats or yachts to travel between the two.
