Hi again!

I am trying to find the prices for train and buses Warsaw-Lublin. Does anybody know the prices, the approximate time of the journey and the frequency? Is it cheaper to buy tickets on site?

Thank you in advance!

By direct intercity train, 2nd class tickets cost 34zloty (10euros) and take 2hrs 20mins. That is the turn up and go price, though I have no idea if it's cheaper a long way in advance or not. It is much cheaper (and much slower) to use a combination of local trains, but the extra time barely makes it worth the effort - as you get extra food etc costs -

Hi Gelli,

Thank you so much for the information! I don't know about turn up and go, because there are nine of us - I am afraid there might not be enough tickets on one train...

10 Euros is cheap enough, I thought the tickets cost like 30, 40 Euro. :)

Do you know whether tourist need to show their passport when they buy train tickets?

Thank you again,

No passports, and though reservations are compulsary on IC trains, there are enough trains that you should be able to buy the same day/when you arrive in Warsaw without any problem. Assuming you will be in Warsaw a day or two before you go to Lublin, just buy when you arrive and you'll be fine.

Great, thank you so much!

Maybe you know also about trains from Bucharest to Sibiu?:)

Yup. There are 3? direct trains a day, taking between 5hrs 30 and 6hrs. One is a night train, though obviously you don't leave until quite late (midnight ish) and arrive before 6am so it might not be ideal if you don't know Sibiu or don't have somewhere to go that early. I've used it a few times without problem though. There are a couple more options changing in Brasov.

Romanian pricing is complex, based on distance, and varies depending on the specific type of train. The same journey at different times can cost different amounts. The better/faster type of train, higher the price, though sometimes the categories don't make much difference to time. Reservations vary from not required to compulsary. Prices seem to be between 45 and 59Lei, so roughly 12-17euros, though expect to pay at the top end of that for direct/fast trains.

Dear Gelli,

Thank you so much for all the information, you helped me so much, you have no idea! :)

We're just deciding between taking the train from Bucharest to Sibiu or driving by car.

Kind regards

Dear Gelli,

I had another question about trains from Lublin to Warsaw.

Are there night trains from Lublin to Warsaw? The thing is, or flight is 10:00 in the morning from Warsaw, so we need to be at the airport at about 07:00... We can also get there earlier and wait. The question is, are there night trains after 24:00, for example.

Thank you again,

The last one seems to be at 19.20. Whilst there are no trains running overnight, there is a train at 4am which will get you into Warszawa between 6.30 and 7am (depending on which station), as as there are direct buses and they only take about 20mins to teh airport, you should be there by 7.45 or 8am at the latest, which might be enough time for you. Having said that, the train is a night train coming from the South East, and if it is delayed, you will have problems.

Dear Gelli,

Thank you again for the information. You talked about the buses - you meant buses from Warsaw to the airport? Are there night buses from Lublin to Warsaw? Do you think there is a possibility to rent a car in Lublin for such a short period of time and return it early in the morning in the airport?

Thanks again
