Budget per day (and accommodation) in Bali?

Travel Forums Asia Budget per day (and accommodation) in Bali?

travloverr has indicated that this thread is about Indonesia

I'm considering heading to Bali for the first time (never been to Indonesia) and I'm a young female traveler going solo. I'm thinking of staying in The Bounty Hotel in Kuta or The Contiki Resort in Seminyak (still 50/50 on where to stay between those 2, unless there's a better option for someone my age traveling solo and looking to meet lots of different people, preferably also other solo travelers...either way, comments/suggestions on where to stay in my case would be much appreciated!), mostly to meet people.

Anyway all that said, what should my budget per day in Bali be NOT including accommodation (I budget that separately plus the hotel also offers free breakfast so I guess that should be considered too)? I was reading the section on Bali/Indonesia in TravelIndependent.info (site) and it said that you can get by with just $25/day, is this true?

Considering that, would I be perfectly alright with $50 (USD) per day, not counting accommodation and breakfast? Thanks!

I would think Kuta is a better for you since it is more concentrated with peoples.

It depends on what you want to do and see in Bali. In my opinion, USD25 a day is easy to get by if you are not travelling far. If you would like to see other part of Bali, you may want to hire a driver to take you around.

Food in Bali is generally cheap. If you are careful on your spending, you can get decent meal at RP50,000. You need to bargain very hard when it comes to shopping though.

I allocated RP700,000 a day for my partner and me for lunch, dinner and driver (RP450,000 a day). I would suggest you to share cost with other travelers when hiring a driver. During the recent petrol price hike, they may have increased their fee by 30%.

I hope this information is helpful.

accommodation in Bali is very cheap you dont need to book anything in advance. Just get there and find a hostel or hotel near the beach

If your considering staying in Bounty hotel, forget it, it's old and expensive (25-30USD a day). If you want a newer hotel in Kuta, try out Bamboo Bed&Breakfast in Legian street. It will cost you the same as bounty (25-30USD) but you get better condition hotel, you can even book from their website at www.bamboolegian.com

Contiki is also a really good choice for meeting young solo travelers. When I stayed there, you get breakfast and dinner, plus they got plenty of activities going on there. It's fun and they only allow 18-35yo there. Really fun crowd.

You can get by easily on 25USD a day, if you like partying and clubbing, I will suggest try out Mbargo, Kudeta (for sunset), Dejavu, Double Six, Bacio.

If you like lounge/resto/bar type, you have to try Rumours, DayDream, Warung Made in Legian, Ocean Beach.

Have fun in bali.. If you need help while in Bali, call me on my local number anytime (check your message)
