Oh so that's the 'window' you're talking about. It's basically a translucent film over part of the note.

Uhmmmmm...yea, like a translucent thing in something else, it's kind of called a window where I am from because of the fact that you can look through it a bit like a window. What sort of window where you expecting it to be? It would have been better if it was a nice stained glass window perhaps, or a nice bit of double glazing, but it's in a bank note so it wasn't really possible.

Yep, the €5 note always make me think of

What have the Romans ever done for us brothers?
The Aqueducts

The last time Europe had a single currency.

My favourite of the old notes was the Belgian 100 Franc

100 Belgian Francs

with James Ensor's masks and a cartoon-like illustration of the beach at Ostend,

as well as the 500 Franc

500 Belgian Francs

with Rene Magritte, possibly the world's only surrealist banknote.

Agree with you. I really like the Euro coins, especially the ones with animals. The Finnish swans, the Slovenians horses, the Greek owls. I'm not so hot on the bills, although I really like the concept of the bridges and doors from the various periods.
