Trust me G - you really dont want to watch it - its cringingly embarassing that you actually spend half your time behind a cushion as you cant bring yourself to watch the TV!!!

That may be but (surprisingly) almost everyone over in your neck of the woods is still watching it...

I can't bring myself to watch American Idol so maybe I'm not really mising anything after all...

Thanks Nikki!!! ;)

Okay - here goes...

Since I've only seen the Irish Turkey Muppet and the Finnish Rockers, I'd vote for the Finns on a serious note. But, I have to agree with Nikki that Ireland is just mocking the competition with the Turkey Muppet. Justin reminds me of a whacked out Adam Sandler as Opera Man (or the guy dressed up as a chicken doing the Chicken Dance in Chicago). I also think the Finnish band owns the complete works of Deep Purple (not a bad thing). Maybe Euro-Disney will hire Justin... Someone place my vote for Finland. Thank you!

Gotta give it to Ireland for understanding the insignificance of it all. Fun - yes. And I like their style.

No disrespect intended toward the Univision competition. I'm also the one who doesn't understand the vast followings for American Idol and Dancing with the Stars. I much prefer watching old Monty Python.

I've scanned this thread quickly and now have Super Trooper stuck in my head.

Who's to blame for this monstrosity???

The "competition" mocks itself anyway - certainly on British TV the presenter, Terry Wogan, has the right attitude to it, and of course points out the huge political voting that goes on (Balkan countries voting for other Balkan countries etc etc).

the politics are the funniest part, when the UK and Ireland get through they always end up voting for each other, its all about voting for the neighbours if you want to keep trading

throughout the thread I managed to avoid thinking about abba, but not anymore, thanks tina !!

I was told about that Irish entry the other night, but hadn't seen it till now. Wowsers!!

Norway actually thinks they have a chance this year, but I doubt it. Ever since internet voting got included and the Fins won with their monsters act, it's been a tad wacky. Mind you, it was always a little wacky ;)

Maybe next year they should send "Ding Dong Danny and the Hairy Bowsies". Anyone who manages to mock Irish Rebel Ballads and still attract a huge Republican following deserves some respect!

If you freeze frame the Father Ted episode and look at the board behind the presenter you'll see a song called 'F$%^ off you dirty English Bastards' by the Hairy Bowsies.

I remember the days when I was forced to watch Eurovision and it still makes me shiver...
