I am planing a six to nine month trip beginning in four and a half months.
I am going west starting in the usa, from there
Australia, or New Zealand
I am planning on doing the whole thing very cheap, 12,000$US, but am not oppossed to rough conditions or working allong the way. Any and all advise is desired, welcome and appreciated.
If your down under, I suggest definitely going coming to Australia. However, I adore New Zealand (my mother's from there) and its also a great country. And if you came to Aus, remember its alot bigger, so it would probably be enticing to spend more time here. New Zealand is alot smaller, so it wouldn't take as long to do more of the country.
Turkey: 35 EUR per day and person (55 USD)
Greece, Italy and Spain: 50 EUR per day and person (80 USD)
Egypt: 20 EUR per day and person (35 USD)
Egypt is a bit misplaced in this. If you are set on Egypt I would go Turkey-Germany-Egypt-Germany-Spain or something similar, travelling by budget flights in the off season. There are too few really cheap flights from Greece or Italy to Egypt. Flying from Istanbul to Cairo might work out well though.
BTW, what are the conditions on your RTW ticket? Have you decided on that front yet?
Due to your budget you should consider an overland trip from Turkey to Egpyt and less time in Europe.
You might want to post about the Europe section in the Europe forum and the South America section in the South America forum, etc.
As you can easily see, Europe is very expensive. How do you plan to get around? What time of the year are you going?
