g'morning to you all,
was wondering what flights i coud get from Chennai (or somewhere in the south, maybe even Sri Lanka) to Denpasar..or some other airport that allows me to check out Borneo on my way up to Thailand..I don't really want to land in Bangkok, prefer to land south and make my way up to north Vietnam.

From Chennai you can not fly directly to Borneo, but you can fly to Kuala Lumpur or Singapore first and take a cheap Air Asia flight onwards to Kota Kinabalu or Sandakan (both Sabah) or Kuching (Sarawak).
Airlines that fly to Kuala Lumpur include Air India Express, Indian Airlines, Jet Airways and Malaysian Airlines.
To Singapore try Air India Express and Indian airlines, or Singapore arlines and tiger airways.

From Sri Lanka (Colombo) try cathay pacific, Emirates, Singapore Airlines or Sri Lankan Airlines. To Kuala Lumpur fly Malaysia and sri Lankan airlines.

Have fun!

cool thanks for the reply. have ended up deciding to go up to Dehli then fly to Singapour from there and then, will definitely be taking your advice, or taking a boat to go visit Borneo.

Just to add on to Michael's reply - Tiger Airway's the cheapest at around 220 SGD (140USD) from Chennai to Singapore, and from there there are plenty of budget airlines that connect to Denpasar in Bali. To Borneo AirAsia also flies from Senai International Airport in Johor, Malaysia (2 hours or so from Singapore) to Kota Kinabalu, Kuching and Miri.
