Myself and my fiance are planning 5 weeks in New Zealand and want to stay in a campervan. We have had a look at some forums and the advice seems to be limitless so I'm hoping someone out there will help us narrow down the choices!
So far we have on our list:
Is there anyone else we should be looking at? Should we be avoiding any of these companies? Any help would be much appreciated Apologies if this has been asked before, please feel free to point me to existing posts!
Have you considered Maui or Britz?
I actually found out something interesting yesterday. Maui, Britz and Keewee Experience are all owned by the same company. The campervans start off as Maui's, then become Britz's after 3 years and 3 years later go the backpacker route for 3 years. After that (9 years old) they go to another company, but can't remember their name. So I'm guessing you'll see some price differences between these companies partly based on this. Probably a few of those other brands do the same thing
Me and my sister travelled around New Zealand in an escape van and altho it wasn't the biggest, we had a fab time.. it was quite nippy and very easy to drive.. we were in convoy with two guys we met who had a 1980's motorhome & it took them twice as long to get anywhere, needless to say we didn't always stay in convoy!!
Everything you needed was in the van.. duvets, pillows, cooking equipment etc etc.. and the bestest thing about it was the amazing artwork.. we had the one with the god of wind on it which was ammmmmazing.. you'll have an awesome time whatever your in.. just make sure you get a top ten discount card for all the wonderful camping grounds.. they were the best with amazing facilities & where located in most of the popular places.
Have an awesome trip guys
hi there it depends what you want and where you fly into
i would definatly recomend wicked campers as the cheapest they have decent vans (no toliet or shower) and are definatly the cheapest, if you say there are 3 of you, you will get a bigger van for no extra cost as well.
If you rent a movan without a toilet, you can't freedom camp.
I have a post in my archives about freedom camping, but don't recommend any vans. It's best to check around for the best price. You can rent from dealers, too. Some have a buy back policy so you know you'll get your money back. Depends on how long you're going to be there whether it's worth it or not.
