I suggest you to read one of my previous replies in a similar thread about Portugal.

cheers mate!
is 3 weeks too long tho? should i head into spain for a bit or something like that?

Three weeks in Portugal alone is perfect! The places I suggested in my previous post can be easily fit into a three-week itinerary. Eight to ten days is certainly too short to get a good view of Portugal.

i thought i was asking in this thread?

sorry, i got the wrong idea

about places, if you like nature/biking you should visit the north like GERES it's about 150km from porto, you can catch a BUS, ( the website: http://www.geira.pt/pnpg/index.html )
and the hills in Douro (were the porto wine is produced): http://www.douronet.pt/

for some good sun, beaches and nightlife, algarve it's the best, without any doubt, i like more lagos then albufeira and portimao because it's more quiet in august, anyway expect a LOT of people :)

if you come te lisbon area, don't miss SINTRA ( http://www.portugalvirtual.pt/_tourism/costadelisboa/sintra/indexp.html )

in lisbon itself, catch the 28 tram, it's a historical tram that will lead you to the most beautiful places in town, go to Rossio and Rua Augusta in downtow, don't forget belem and ask for the famous "pasteis de belem" (a tradicional cake, my favourite)

regards

Miguel
