Sam,

are you serious about the bats???? Not that it totally puts me off - I mean the idea of eating bats, but did you really eat them that way? smelling the burnt hairs???

about Norway and sheeps' brains, that's quite normal I've heard quite a few places, I think in Iceland and the Pharoe Islands as well. But I don't think I could eat it either LOL

Just giving my nod of agreement to some of the other posters on this thread. Thailand has some of the best food/resteraunts I have ever been privy to while traveling. Odd thing is, the smaller and seedier looking the place, the better the food seems to be(and the cheaper). The beach vendors frying up squids was one of my favorites. out of the ocean cooked on the beach and then stuck on a stick... How much fresher can you get?

Yep, serious about the bats. Actually, they were flying foxes, you know those big things that can be the size of a small cat. I can still remember the smell if I close my eyes.... basically after roasting them, you scrape off the hairs and go for it. I usually stuck to the breast/back/wings but Pete had this thing about the head I seem to remember :)

Mmm, I remember these great chicken sandwiches from Thailand! I think I had at least one or two for every day I was in that village!!
