Tirana, Albania to Santorini, Greece

I will be going to Albania for my daughters wedding in August 2008
I will have from August 18th to August 26th to experience Albania. I thought that it would be nice to see a bit of Greece as well.
Since I will be travelling alone, what is the best and quickest method of transportation from Albania to Greece and what would be the recommended places to see while I am in Albania and Greece?

Bus/Coach would be the way to go! You'll be sure to have a busload of Albanians travelling to Greece as a lot have to cross the border to get work. If you're going to various places in Albania, then getting a bus to Greece is really easy from the city of Korca (also spelt Korce) - which is fairly close to the border. Buses from there go to both Thessaloniki (known as Salonic in Albania) and Athens.

Within Albania there is an expanding train network, mainly in the west coming out of Tirana to certain places. Other than that minivans do city-to-city transport - though they only go when the van is full or all seats are paid for! It may be an idea to talk to a local first before using these to get advice.

I would say the best form of travel is also bus / coach - i have travelled a lot of Albania, it's FANTASTIC. i would strongly recommend going. be sure to checkout the albania tourism website here: http://www.albaniantourism.com/
