Squarabara has indicated that this thread is about New Zealand

Hi all!!!

I just got my travel insurance today for abroad. However, it does not cover any existing conditions I may have and I currently take a medication for anxiety on a regular basis. I was wondering, what are the main pharmacies in New Zealand??? Or do you guys call them chemists??? Either way, I would like to know if you guys have any that are over here in the states. That way I can call them and find out how much my medication would be without insurance. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!!

Sara

Try radius chemist too just google it.

Your best idea would be to get them from home and have a doctor right a letter explaining that you need to have them this way you could bring say 6months worth with you, you need a letter for athorities at the airport. Even here if the medicine is perscription only yould have to see a doctor first which would cost you $30-$60 each time.

also, this is sort of unrelated, but still. check with nz customs and check if they have a funny rule about how much medication is allowed to enter the country or something along those lines. i found some places have it in effect, which would require some straties and/or planning :)

have fun!

Hi, i had the same problem as well. But its not really a problem, i took over 3 months supply from the UK through check in at London, Singapore, and Sydney, and never got asked once about my medication. When i was in Sydney, all i needed to do was get a prescription from the doctor and thats it. I took a letter from my doctor, but it cost me about 70AUD for it.

Right on.......sounds like I should call my current doctor before I leave and see if I can get a bit of extra meds to hold me over until I figure out what to do over there. And I'll see about getting a perscription sent to NZ while I'm there to show whichever doctor I go to see.

Thanks for the advice, everyone!!! Anyone else have anything to add???

Sorry I don't think I made myself very clear, it cost me 70AUD to get my Australian prescription.
