Athens - Accommodation

Hello
We are going to Greece in Sept, never been before and need some accommodation in Athens on arrival for 3 nights. Has anyone got any suggestions or stayed at a 3 star hotel which is great value for money, clean being my main concern, ideally we want to be around Plaka or heart of Athens.

If you have ever stayed anywhere that you would go back to could you please let me know it would be appreciated.

Where in Athens are you arriving? I mean train, car, plane etc.
Its a huge city and the 3* hotels are plentiful and well spread out. I can help if you give me an arrival point and how far into the city you want to travel before stopping at your hotel.

I stayed at Hotel Lycabettus last fall and really liked it. The views of the Acropolis and Athens were spectacular! But it is a 5 star hotel. May be another on Lycabettus hill in the 3 star range. The area around the hill is safe and clean - good place to stay.

On my last trip to Athens with my Partner I came across this wonderful hotel -snip- Plaka Hotel Athens

This hotel is in a great location to enjoy the Plaka neighborhood. Plus it has incredible views of the Acropolis if your room faces south. Even if your room is on another side of the bulding, the hotel offers a great roof top terrace where you can have a cocktail and enjoy the sunset over the Acropolis. The hotel is updated, clean, and well maintained. I would definitely stay here again. Great location, nice breakfast buffet, well-appointed rooms
