Don't worry about the weather, yes it will be cold in all of europe but so what? It just means you may have to spend more time in the bars. Just go to major cities and you will have a great time, London, Paris Amsterdam etc. Europe doesn't shut down for winter (apart from very touristy beach resorts) and it is mainly all geared up for cold weather, you could go skiing or just find a bar with a log fire and enjoy the great beer!!! Christmas time is a great time to visit. You won't get a tan but I'm sure that is not really a problem.

Thanks for the offer. I haven't really worked out what i want yet. Will definitely ask more questions when I start doing research and work out the itinerary.

Skylarking, have you been to Aust during Xmas time? it was 42degree heat when we were in Perth last year. We were inside the house on Xmas day with the aircon on all day. I wouldn't mind seeing a White xmas. It's funny how we always want something that we don't have. But I'm with you, i prefer warm sunny weather any day.

Yay! I will be traveling Switz, Germany, and hopefully Prague in december! Ending the trip in Paris, France for New Years Eve.

I too am worried about the weather, being that I am from Florida, USA, and all the towns being empty, with all the activities/attractions closed as well. Hopefully if everything is closed down and snowed out, we can meet up!

If you have any kinda of itenary worked out so far let me know because I am still lost and would love your input.

Thanks.

hi Michelle
just dont worry. Nothing is closed. and the countries you go to are not the tipical sommer tourist countries. Swizzerland will be full with snow and perherps the border between Germany and Czech Republic. If you go to Bavaria so its possible that there will be snow to and probably in the central German Mountains. But the freeways are good and when you dont go by car by night so you willent be having big problems with sonow except Czech Republic i was this weekend in Prague and there are the highways there by the border are extremly bad in some etaps and with sonw that willn´t be fun if you go by car.
If not so dont worry.

hey!

i guess you will visit the bigger cities in the countrys you wrote down?
if i were you i would take the interrail train pass, would be the best thing for travel around europe.
otherwise renting a car is really no problem, but it would be hard in some countrys with the traffic i think. okay big cities normaly have much traffic. but wouldn't have to drive a car in london, rom and paris.
if you wanna visit paris, go on top of the triumphal arch and watch the traffic around it! it's really interesting to see it and very incredible that not happen much accidents.
in every swiss city it will be no problem and also spain and greece i think would be really okay.

if you wanna stay at christmas time on swiss ski resort then you have to book a few month before.
zermatt would be interesting for you or maybe the "jungfrau joch" but my personal favourite place is called the "loetschental" it's really woooow! it's a small resort but you will have snow on christmas time. the mountain there called bietschhorn and the altetsch glacier belongs to the world heritage.
if you just wanna see cities, then go to lucerne, bern, basel, fribourg.

cheers,

sandra
