So, I am planning on hitting stone henge for summer solstice. Anyone with some experience with this? What should I expect and how can I go about getting there from Salisbury train station? I am a lone girl travelling, would this be completely ridiculous to do on my own?
You should expect a big circle of big stones. A small car would be the best option I think but if I remeber right, there is a little bus shuttle in the peak season.
Why should it be ridiculous ? It only depends on, if you are a person that can enjoy those journeys alone without the need of a bubbling group around you. Most people can´t stand to be by themself.
I am getting from you that for my time in the U.K a small car is essential. I am sure I will be fine on my own, I think I am bubbly enough for a whole crowd of people, I just heard that things can get kind of out of hand at summer solstice, but maybe that was someone who was so jealous that they decided to put the trip down instead of give it any thought at all. Thanks for the advice though.
Hi Tan Tan.....I haven't been to Summer Solstice, but remember there being public buses which stop at Stonehenge. The Wilts & Dorset bus service set up a route specifically for the Summer Solstice which runs from Salisbury train station....http://http://www.wdbus.co.uk/htm/ttother/summersolstice.doc should have all the information you need about it! Hope you have an amazing time!!
