Hello, my name is Shannon. I live in Chicago, IL USA. I am 26 years old, and work as a school social worker with special needs children.
I have traveled to 7 countries in Europe with a choir I used to sing with. I am returning to the UK in December, as my father is marrying a woman from Bristol and is moving there with her, so I am going to attend that wedding and meet her family.
Lately, after hearing the talk about England (my favorite place on the choir tour), I am considering moving to London to pursue my social work career there. I understand that the UK places far more positive emphasis on social services than the US does, and I would be able to make more of a living with my career in London than I do here.
If anyone knows anything about the social work/human service field in London/England, please feel free to message me. I know nothing about how my qualifications would transfer (I hold a bachelors degree in Psychology and a Masters degree in Social Work from American universities, and a type-73 certification to work in the school system. I am halfway through my LCSW supervision hours, but I'm not even sure that license would transfer to the UK.
Anyway, that's where I'm at right now! Nice to meet anyone. Even if you don't know anything about my questions, feel free to say hello. =)
