Hey,

I'm passing through Switzerland for a 3 day visit on my way from Paris to Munich this summer. I'm wondering where to go. I'm a young male american going with a friend. Right now I've been looking at Berne or Lucerne. I don't know if those are out of the way from Munich however.

Any ideas?

For a Paris to Munich trip Switzerland is out of the way. Most straight train connections go via Stuttgart, Mannheim or Strasbourg.

visit Zurich, you could also have a stop in Basel on the way there

Is Zurich intense? If I'm stopping in Switzerland, it would be nice to relax a little--all the other cities on my itinerary are capitals or busy.

Anyone have any insight on taking the overnight train from Paris to Munich? If switz is out of the way, would that be a better option?

I dont think anything in Swiss is intense - except prices. Swiss is def outta the way from Paris too. If you want a relaxing break after Munich - altho Munich struggles to keep me awake on any day - you can head over to Austria. Tyrol has some nice villages and wee towns. Innsbruck is only an 1.5 hours and very fun - the capital for Burton Snowboards, so you get alot of snowboard geeks and chics. nice town tho. After a dose of Munich nightlife - you may actually want a intense night out. Innsbruck may be a good option.

If you really wannna see Swiss and relax - go to Soluthurn. a small town in the north from Bern and not far from the German border.

well, Switzerland is not on the direct line from Paris to Munich so ... you could relax in Germany, Baden-Baden for example or have a stop over in Frankfurt am Main and take a day trip to Heidelberg from there

Solothurn is close to the German border yeah

Yep sure is! its a short hop from Basel which is on the border. really anythin in the north of Swiss would do for a easy trip from Germany - Zurich, Basel, Solothurn or Bern

Interlaken is wonderful, too--great scenery, great hiking, simply beautiful.

So may cities to choose from!
