Cuba - Hurricane Season?

Travel Forums Central/South America & The Caribbean Cuba - Hurricane Season?

Hi everyone,

Have planned a trip to Cuba for two weeks at the end of September. However, I've been strongly warned off going there by someone who said it's "hurricane season" in the Caribbean around that time.

I'm not one to cancel a trip easily, so I'd really appreciate any comments from travellers who have been there or in nearby regions around this time of year.

Thanks a lot!

Ev

Hi samsara,
I think there will no any problem of hurricane in September, you will enjoy there a lot, I know an online directory and search engine which is basically Caribbean based directory only and it will really help you to find the place of accommodation and places of tourist interest there. You must go through it and you will enjoy your trip there...

All the best!!
jacob ;)

Posted a question about Caribbean in november a few days ago as well, because it is the end of hurricane season and there is more rain compared to the December to April period.
Been reading since then and it is just a matter of luck, or actually bad luck. You will have some afternoon downpours I guess but still the chances of getting hit by a hurrican are small.

To start, read this article, with some more links at the bottom.

Have fun!
Michael

Thanks for your answers guys. :) In the end, I opted to go to Cuba next April if possible, and I'm off to Canada for in Sept/Oct.

Where will you be, Ev? Let me know if you'll be stopping by Montreal!
