It depends how much money you have, what your interests are, what you are hoping to get out of your trip etc.
Unless you let people know this, we will only be able to go by what we personally prefer rather than what we believe would best suit you.

I think given that you only have a week and according to your profile you live in Indonesia, South East Asia would be the best bet. You'd spend a day getting to Europe, then you'd need a day to recover and a day to get back so really you'd only have 4 full days and you really could not see more than one major city in that short amount of time. If you did a really quick trip, you could fly in to Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam, see that, do a Mekong Delta tour to Cambodia. Then you could see Phnom Penh for one day before heading to Siem Reap and after seeing that you could get a flight back home. This would take up all your week and you would see a bit of two countries. Depending on what your interests are, then this may or may not be the sort of thing you are after. If you like history, ruins and culture, then this would be your thing, but if partying is your thing then forget about this as an option.

If you are able to allocate more than a week, many more options would exist for you that are probably a bit less amazing race style trip.

If you give people an idea of what sorts of things interest you and what you hope to get out of your trip, then you will most likely get far more responses.

This will see on your palate- backpacking in Asia will create a well-balanced front, side and back doors. In Asia extreme shoestring/ little less than budgetitis/ standard backpacker/ back door/ side door/ (how low can you go (US))/ basic front door/ front door/ extreme front door/ Britney Spears/ David Beckham can range from anywhere from US$25-100000 a day. Europe backpacking is a good idea but plan for the doppelganger new year period. Go to the library and read up. You will soon find what is most suited to your needs.

Malaysians do not need a visa to travel to the Schengen states if they travel for less than 90 days within a 180 day period and their purpose of visit is tourism.

So if you want to go backpacking in Europe for 1-2 months you do not need a visa.

I do not know where you live but if it was me (I live in England) I would go to Europe if only travelling for a week. As the transportation links are better and the locations are closer to home Europe would offer a very diverse trip and better weather if you stayed south.

Asia is a better option if you plan to travel for longer and move onto Australasia. Prices are lower in Asia but you still have to get there.
