i'm going to make a Eurotrip with my friends. We rent a car and just go. One of the first stops is Switzerland, where we plan to stay several days and check mountains and lakes. I'm wondering if someone have any experiences with summer skiing in Switzerland. I have found to places that provide summer skiing - Zermatt and one more, I just forgot the name I'd just like to know if it's worth to go there or whether ski conditions in summer are not good enough to go there.
Also I you have been in Swiss before, could you recommend me some beautifull places? I'm more looking for "out of big city" places, like nice villages, lakes and so on.
Due to the rare snow and ice conditions these days, summer skiing becomes more and more difficult and hard to find.
A region I do know very well is the Engadin - area of St. Moritz - a lot of lakes "Oberengadiner Seen" and the time I been there very often it was possible to ski on Piz Corvatsch in summer time but if I remember right, they closed it for the summer season due to the reasons I mentioned above.
But the area is fantastic ! Lakes, mountains, small towns - St. Mortiz isn´t very big itself ! - small hotels, pensions, campsites and so on . . .
Jump over to the south site of the Bernina-Pass and check out the famous wine region of the Veltliner Wein.
Just surf the web on - Engadin - Oberengadin - St. Moritz - Pontresina - and so on and you will find a lot of information.
Good luck and a happy journey

Summer skiing is also possible at Zermatt
Also, for more info on glacier skiing in Europe during the summer, check out this link.
yes i think zermatt will be okay for skiing in summer. the other two i know is "le glacier" it's near by the city gstaad and the other one is in engelberg on the mountain titlis. but i think that's not for sure, that you can skiing the whole summer in engelberg, because they have more and more problems with the snow. so if i were you, i would go to zermatt.
my favourite lake in switzerland is the oeschinen lake. you can see on http://www.oeschinensee.ch
it's really the most beautiful mountain lake i know. you can also do some treks around the lake and up to the higher mountains.
otherwise yes you can go the engadin, there are also much nice places around st. moritz.
