Hey Folks,

As I write a lot these days a couple of things come to my attention. Firefox spell checker is not super great, and indeed Openoffice spell checker, though better, has its limits.

Has anyone found that when firefox, openoffice fails to find the correct alternative to a spelling correcting a quick copy and past into Google or Yahoo of the mis spelt word and you nearly always get a suggestion? One that is usually correct.

I also use Wordweb, but find it faster to just copy and past into a search engine.

I know a Search engine's Database is huge. But surely if the word processor or spell check market could tap into this it would be a lot better.

Just wondering if there was an add on to either openoffice or Firefox that could improve the spellchecks for my illiterate brain!!

I confess I never see the need to use a spell-checker. When in doubt, be it spelling or meaning of a word, I usually refer to a dictionary - online dictionaries work too.

I didn't even know Firefox has a spell-checker!

Firefox 3 is coming out today :) I haven't tested any of the betas, but it should certainly be better. Maybe there's some spell-checking improvements.

I did a quick search for an Add-On, but it's mainly just language packs that are available. For me, the spell-checker included is pretty OK.
