I'm heading out to Central and South America soon. I'll be learning Spanish in Guatemala for at least 4 weeks and then am heading down to Ecuador and on to Peru ana finally Bolivia. Does anybody have any experience of volunteering in any of these countries? Or have any recommendations?
Any help you guys might be able to give would be much appreciated
Thanks - I've heard about them before. Their projects look good except when your budget it tight...!
Or check out the following sites...
• If you're from the UK: BUNAC's Volunteer Programs (Peru, Costa Rica, Ghana, USA, South Africa etc)
• And for Kiwi's: IEP's Volunteer Programs (Peru, Costa Rica, USA, South Africa, and Cambodia)
• Or for Aussies: IEP's Volunteer Programs (South Africa, Peru, Costa Rica and Cambodia)
IEP - International Exchange Programs is part of the BUNAC network so they're all non-profit, meaning that it's all about you!
There are lots of good volunteer options in those countries;
Your options are limited by your level Spanish - you should be OK with your classes
and the amount of time you can volunteer for,
most orgs ask you to commit for 1 month.
There is a directory of free and low-cost volunteer programs in
South and Central America here:
