With not taking much holiday at work this year I've got enough days left to spend 3 weeks in Oz late November, returning to UK just before Christmas - you little ripper!
Luckily I've got relatives in Sydney and Noosa, so I want to spend a few days with both. My geography of Oz isn't the best but I'm getting better. Bearing in mind I'm struggling for time I was thinking of flying from UK to Sydney and then travel up the East Coast on the Oz Experience to Cairns stopping off in Noosa to see family and then getting flight back (using Virgin Blue) to Sydney?
Does this sound feasable? Anyone got any better suggestions for spending 3 weeks in Oz bearing in mind I really want to see relatives in Sydney and Noosa?
Sydney is great. You could easily spend a week there, but it is an enormous distance to Noosa - a couple of THOUSAND kilometres at least, so a week's drive, even on the coach.
Flying part of the leg (Sydney to Brisbane?) then driving to Cairns via Noosa (very nice place, great beach) and flying home out of Cairns might be a good idea. Any time spent bact-tracking is time wasted.
If you want to see as much as you can why not fly to Melbourne, spend a couple of days, fly to Sydney spend time with the family fly to Brisbane and drive to Noosa (about an hours drive). Back to Brisbane and fly to Cairns for the last few days and see if there are any international flights home from there? (not really sure about that)
Cheers for your replies. I've actually managed to extend my stay and wll fly out 2 Dec returning on 5th Jan, so its now almost 5 weeks! I'm going to fly in and out of Brisbane. Once I get to Brisbane, spend the first night in Tin Billy's hostel as I hear its got a great bar and after a long trip I'll be in need of a beer! Will then travel upto Noosa, spend a few days there and then head up the East Coast on route to Cairns before flying to Sydney 24th Dec. Will then spend Xmas and New Year there, before making may back upto Brisbane (possibly overland) in New Year for flight home.
Depending on money situation might travel to Adelaide and/or Melbourne between Xmas and New Year.
