Hello..

..i was hoping you could shed some light on "Nam" for me as i am debating weather or not to travel through there on a RTW trip.

Any info on must see places or interest or general info would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Hi,

I've no idea but I've book'd a flight on the 14/12 I was going to stay in Bangkok with a mate for a few days then get a flight to Ton Son Nuht then hang out in Ho Chi Minh city for a couple of weeks there seems to be a lot of bars in district 1 that back packers go to.
So I was going to turn up speak to some people then find something to do, I'm sure I won't get bored

My wife and I travelled through there from Saigon to Hue and back into the Delta and absolutely loved it - we were there for 4 weeks and could have stayed a lot longer... This was back a few years when it was just opening but I can only assume it's even better equipped for tourism and travel now.
I would definitely put it on your itinerary.
Cheers,
Andrew

vietnam is well worth the visit mate. The country itself is amazing and the people are great - very friendly... Ho Chi Minh has a good night life, great food and a great feel(watch out for the bloody moto's), and the coast going north is beautiful

Just booked a trip through vietnam, cambodia and thailand with Intrepid Travel but will be spending 2 weeks in vietnam before joining the trip. Lots to see and do in Ho Chi Min and surrounding cities. I am going up to Nha Trang to do a bit of diving and then checking out the Chi Cu tunnels where the Viet Con hid, and the killing fields before joining the tour.

Saigon to Hue was great, but I didn't like the north ... Hanoi, etc attitude towards the mass tourism. Could happen anywhere of course

Am leaving in 10 days for my second trip to Vietnam in 3 years. I love the counrty and the people are really friendly. I found Hanoi to be a little less personable (I know that's an awkward way to say it), and Saigon a much brighter and friendlier city in comparison, but the whole country's great. Don't miss all the places in between those two cities though.

My personal favourites are Sapa, Hoi An and the Mekong Delta (not necessarily geographically in between Hanoi and Saigon...).
