Before anyone can tell you where/what to do, you've got to tell us general info like ages and interests. (not everyone likes to surf!)

sounds like oahu would be perfect for you...lots of nightlife in waikiki. there are many hikes on the island...manoa falls, diamond head, makapuu lighthouse, maunawili falls....and you can learn to surf in waikiki...summer south swell. when do you plan to be here?

I would definately try to make it to Maui. I love Maui!!! All th beaches there are just beautiful, and there's the perfect amount of nightlife/nature. When in Maui I would definitely Visit the Seven Sacred Pools (which take a little while to get to, but are totally worth it), and Iao Valley State Park (which has some great hiking and beautiful sites).

Try to get there! I've been on most of the islands and Maui by far always shows me the best time!

Have fun!

I agree with Nomadgirl, you should start with Oahu. Honolulu is where you'll see most of the nightlife and best restaurants (Chinese to die for!!!) I lived there for a year myself. The outer islands are more pristine, but also a little quiet and isolated for 2 young girls of your ages. Kauai (the Garden Isle) is the lushest, Maui is the most touristed (I love the Hana area), and Hawaii is the land of the volcano with great golf.

Try Oahu's N. Shore for surfing and great beach life (skip Waikiki - terrible beaches and overpriced everything).

I noticed that you'll be leaving on your trip fairly soon, but thought you may find some useful last-minute ideas for your Hawaii trip on this great website called Tripfilms, which I found recently. I've been to Hawaii several times (Oahu, Kauai, Maui, Lanai, and the Big Island), and this site provides excellent video recommendations of things to do and see on the islands!
Here's a link to the Oahu page. It features a video about where to eat, and another called "A Perfect Day in Oahu."

Hope you have a fantastic trip!
