Hi,

My girlfriend and I are planning to visit Alcatraz in 3 weeks time, and have heard it is advisable to book your tickets in advance.

If anyone has done this before please can you recommend which website is best to book your tickets from? Also, is there an official website as all the websites we have been on look like tour operators.

I hope you can help.

Thanks

JD

Alcatraz is a national park, and if you go to the US National Park Service website, you can find it, including Fees and reservations information. As you will see, visiting the park is free, but given that it is in the middle of San Francisco Bay, a little hard to get to.

From there, you need to go to the Altctraz Cruises website to buy tickets. Book soon, tickets sell out pretty far in advance.

Ticket prices are $24.50 for adults (including those with student cards) for a daytime trip and $30.50 - $31.50 for night time trips.

Enjoy,
Greg

I see where the National Park Service has said they are considering building a hotel on the island. That should raise a lot of comments pro and con from the local residents.
