Hello me and my frinds are planning a trip to India. Basically, last year we went to Thailand, up and down and had the best time of our lives and understand we'll never be able to replicate that, I want to go back, but my friends, logically, say lets try somewhere else. I said Cambodia ( (via BKK lol) but as i say, they're thinking India and that Cambodia is too similar to Thailand... also Laos or Vietnam could be visited whilst over there ( i say) but again they think maybe too similar?? Is it??..??
So what is the nightlife like in India? I know it won't be anything like Thai, but do the pubs/bars shut early and are there clubs...? Tolerance to all male groups (only 3 of us).
Also what are your thoughts on going to the same place twice within 12 months, we're all 22 and I wanna party while I can hence wanting Thailand again and could also do some of the things we missed out on last time and know i can talk em into Cambodia/Laos or do you think we should go to India..
Any input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Simon.
I have not been to India, but it seems very doubtful there is going to be anything like the scene in Thailand. Hopefully the TP members familiar with India will chime in.
I can vouch for Cambodia & VN. There are plenty of places to party and have a very good time in both countries. Send me a PM if you want my thoughts on this. I am an old Pattaya hand, so ask away. Mike
I personally think that if your main objective in traveling is to party, then head back to Thailand not India. India is fantastic, interesting, and intense, but it's not the place you go just to party. You may find some places to party Thai style in Goa, but when I was there I didn't see anything that compared to Thailand. Of course there are clubs and whatnot in the big cities, but I can't report on them as the cover charge into an Indian club was more than I was willing to fork out. So if you are going to experience something new and do some more adventurous traveling, with maybe the odd night of partying mixed in, then head to India. But it sounds to me like all you want to do is party, so head back to South East Asia. Cambodia and Laos are great, though I wouldn't consider either of them party destinations compared to Thailand. But they both have lots to see and offer a very chilled out holiday. Of course you can find places to drink and have a good time anywhere you go in these countries, but I don't think partying should be the focus of your travels here. Vietnam is has even more to see then Cambodia and Laos put together, and you may find it more lively then the other two. But Vietnam still has nothing on Thailand for nightlife, or at least it didn't when I was there 5 years ago. I do recall a great night out in Nha Trang though.
As for heading back to the same destination twice, well I'm not going to tell you it's a bad idea as I went to Thailand three years in a row, and took a fourth trip this Christmas.
Thanks for the information. Nah the only reason we're going isn't just to party, we'll be going around all the typical tourist sights as we did in Thailand, although i realise i didn't give that impression lol. I just like something to do at night or if we have a few free days and think I don't wanna end up in some quiet little bar that frown upon getting smashed.
Anyone else's opinions would also be appreciated, thanks for what i've beeen given so far.
I agree with degolasse... don't go to India! personally I think it would be a shame to go there if all you want to do is party as the country has got so much to offer.. and yes the options are also few when it comes to bars and clubs. I have been around both SE Asia and India, and i would definitley say go to Thailand or Lao and Cambodia. Go to India when you one day have had enough of partying and want to experience one of the most interesting and beautiful places in the world.
Ive spent a bit of time in Mumbai and Goa and many other parts of south india, there is a nightlife scene but it is goign to be ALOT different from the thai scene, it will not be acceptable to fall out of bars/clubs in a drunken state its just not the done thing there!
I never went clubbing as such, there is a scene in Mumbai but its exclusive and not going to be on a typical back packers budget, there are bars to drink in but again its not really what is done in Mumbai.
Goa on the other hand is alot more relaxed and you can get away with most things if thats what your in too, my experience is that your be too tired from the heat and the other amazing things to see and do that you aint going to be that interested in alcohol....i had one night on alcohol in four months of being in india!! Happy travels!!
