I'm visiting Belgium on my way from Amsterdam to Paris and I have 4 days. I already booked the first two in Brugge, which leaves me with another 2 to spend somewhere conveniently located between Brugge and Paris.
I looked at Gent and it seems great but I can't find any budget accommodations ( <30EUR). Brussels just seems confusing. Would it be worth a trip for 2 nights?
Gent is very nice, I'd check that out. If you bring a tent, the municipal campsite is good and cheap, and has excellent public transport to the center. Brussels is also nice, but I'd go for Gent.
gent is pretty, you can also go to antwerp, its on the way on the train anyway and its a great city!
Any advice on where to go to get info on the camping site in Gent? Would it be possible to rent a tent for a night?
And yeah Antwerp looks interesting. Is it worth 2 nights? Would it be possible to split it between the two?
hmmm no i dont think so, i wouldnt split the 2... better to see one better, than 2 not very well! choose one of them! i think gent is prob better for 2 days...
maybe you don't really need to move your tent, Gent is 23 minutes from Brugge, by train, so you can do that as a daytrip. Actually there are a number of cities you can do as daytrip, without the hassle of moving (Brussels, Antwerp, Leuven, and if summer is in full swing, you can also head to the beach for a day)
Hey, I live in Belgium -and if I were you, I'd go to Gent! It's a town of students, and there's always much to do like Theatre, concerts, festivals...
It's a bit like Brugge, only bigger and with more nightlife!
