Hello people

First post here so please be gentle :-)

I am just about to head to South East Asia in September and am going to do a peregrine tour that takes me through Thailand, Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia.

Is there any airline that you definitely would not use in South East Asia? Is there some that you can definitely suggest?

In this tour I am doing there is alot of flying which I dont mind. Im just wanting to make sure that Im not getting on any dodgy and dangerous planes.

Any advice friends? :)

Personaly, I would not fly on any Indonesian or Burmese carrier (standards much too low). The best in SEA include Jetstar, Air Asia, Tiger, Bangkok, Nok and Vietnam Airlines. I am not a big fan of ATR aircraft (smaller prop planes), but it is almost impossible to avoid them in Indochina.

Lao Airlines have a bad reputation (the UK Foreign office advises against flying with them). I flew with Air Asia and Bangkok Airways and both were very good.

I agree with Daawgon. Most of SE Asia heavily guards their safety records (information security is a reflex from the communist days) though indirect watchdog agencies keep records. Thailand however, has some remarkable airlines which you can trust.

How long will you be in SEA?

I agree with bex76,

I prefer travelling around with AirAsia since it's quite cheap. Besides, they're always have a promotion so the price is perfect for those on a budget.

I forgot one of the good airlines - Silk Air.
