Well I travelled alone for 7 months last year and now I desperately need a fix. I have 3 weeks of holiday coming up in late August/early September, so what I thought I would do is drive my motorcycle down through Eastern Europe. I just have a few questions:
- What would be a good itinerary? I thought of going to Poland and from there to the Czech Republic and/or Slovakia. Better suggestions are welcome. Are there any must see sights?
- Is going on a motorcycle stupid? Will it get stolen?
- I'm hoping accomodation will be cheap. Are there many hostels/cheap hotels? Is it easy to find accomodation in August without prebooking?
Hi i am from Poland and i can tell you dont worry. Your Motorcyle can get stolen where ever you go to but the time is not like before 10 years when the youth was stealing everything with a western numbers.
If you have got 3 Weeks so i recomend you tu go to Hungary too. Hungary in the late summer looks like the Tuscany.
Dont go to Warsaw! There is a lot of more beautifull cities in Poland then Warsaw. Remember in the world war II Warsow get completly destroyed just some Partes become historically rebuilded but Generally Warsaw is not Recomendable. Having a choice i would be recomending Gdansk, Kolobrzeg, Stettin, Gorzów wielkopolski, Poznan, Wroclaw, then a trip over the czech Highlands, to Bratislava, Viena then Back to Hungary Where i ro Recomend, cities like Szekesfehervar, Budapest, Eger, later entering Slovakia going to Zvolen, Banska Bistrica Dolny Kubin and from There goling over the Karpaths to Zakopane, Kraków, Przemysl, Lublin, Biala Podlaska, Suwalki, going over Mazury, Olsztyn Elblag, Malbork, Gdansk and a Ferry back home. The Streets in Eastern Poland are not really good and how it is in Slovakia and Czech Republik and Hungary i cant tell just try to not be driving on Highways by night when you need to by driving by night take the freeways if it is Possible.
Have a Lot of Fun in my Country. As Denish you will be really welcome and the people will be interested in to know you specially when you go to Small Places where normally are never comming foreigners.
Thank you very much for the advice - I have googled some of your suggestions and it looks really interesting I can't wait to go and get away from it all for a bit.
