rmb has indicated that this thread is about Malaysia

Hello I am trying to go from KL up to Bangkok and on to Northern Southeast Asia and was hoping to visit Batu Caves, Cameron Highlands, and Taman Negara along the way and I was wondering this is is plausible.

Any help or direction would be fantastic.

Batu Caves is about an hour from the city centre. You can see it without leaving KL.

Taman Negara and Cameron Highlands are up north and require some travel. There are plenty of places to stay at Cameron and the nearby Fraser's Hill. Those are tourists spots with quite a local presence as well. If you are not alone, I would recommend renting a car.

Taman Negara is not that commercial, and you would do well to find somewhere to put your luggage while you run around the jungle. I think there are guided tours if you search around the web.

Getting to Bangkok is easy. There are loads of buses, mostly from the Puduraya Bus Terminal in the middle of the city. I would try to travel late at night and sleep in the bus, getting to Bangkok in the morning and saving one night's hotel bill. Unless you don't care about saving hotel bills.

Thanks for the tips...

And I'm def looking to save money anywhere I can, thanks! Think its reasonable to give all a week to do? Minus maybe traveling the final to bangkok?

A week is fair.

Fly in and rest the first day. walk around chinatown and batu caves the 2nd day, maybe do a bit of shopping too.

This is the city hall website:
pasar malam = night market. lotsa cheap food and much cheaper than the chinatown night market. its where the locals shop for groceries so its fairly cheap and they wont expect tourists to show up. simple english usually works
isnin = monday, selasa = tuesday and so forth.

3+4 go to cameron, 5+6+7 go to taman negara.

Now taman negara is huge and people occasionally get lost in there. i dunno how many days you need for that. I think there are chalets around for rental and you might want to go around with local tour guides. I'm sure you can find some around. However, i think you need about 5 days to get up Gunung Tahan (highest point on peninsula) and back.

From taman negara i think its easier to get a bus to Bangkok from Ipoh.

awesome thanks! Is it easy to get from cameron to tamen nagara?

no idea. never tried it. there's probably some bus service, but i dont think it will go directly to taman negara.

the question is how long you would have to wait for it because that is not a common route. might ask if the cameron hotel can drive you out to somewhere you can get a bus.

again, it depends on how many people. get the hotel to get you a car would be a good idea, but they can only carry four passengers by law.

What would be the best route to take from Taman Negara to either Bangkok or Hat Yai and does anyone know how long the trip would roughly take?

May I know when will you be touching down Malaysia? Will be reaching here Morning/ Noon /Evening?
How many of you are coming.

Batu caves will not take you one day, unless if you are interested to join the cave exploration tour - trip to Dark Cave on every 3rd Sunday of the month conduct by Malaysian Nature Society. Next session will be on 20 July cost RM80. If not apprx 2-3 hr you are done. China Town best to go in the evening.

If you are staying around China Town / Bukit Bintang area it is easy to move around and is near Puduraya Bus Terminal 15-20mins walk.

There is a minivan service cameron highlands > Taman Negara run by some travel agencies or you can check this webpage:

I don't think there is any bus service direct from Taman Negara > Hat Yai. But you can always come down to Ipoh Town
to get a bus to Hat Yai/ Bangkok. It will take about 5-6 hrs from Ipoh to reach Hat Yai & longer to Bangkok.

It it better to opt for KL > Taman Negara > Cameron > Ipoh > Hat Yai cuz it is much more easier to access to public transport in Cameron than in Taman Negara.
