I need an online ticket from mendoza to santiago de chile..i need this to show it at the embassy to get the visa,..
If u guys know of anywebsite tthat sells ticket online ( for 08/09/08)..i saw some but they dont sell before 30 days.
Its really imp to get the ticket as my visa depends on that..i have booked all my tickets etc, would be a pity if i dont get the visa
I am not sure if this will help much, but I have checked in my travel diary from 2006 and the bus company I got From Santiago-Buenos Aires (via Mendoza) was El Rapido. If you do a google search for El Rapido, hopefully they have a website which can help or a phone number which you could try and call.
thanks so much!!i do appreciate all the help.
this website lets u buy tickets but only 30 days before the travel..and i have to apply for a visa soon as i am travelling for a few days in the US ..its very complicated..every thing is so related to the other..but no worries ..i have a trump card ..if nothing works , i will buy a plane ticket..juts wanted to travel by land ...as its not just cheaper ,but one gets to see more as well
thanks once again for the encouragement..i would make it somehow!!
Andesmar is another bus company doing the Mendoza to Santiago route, we used them. You can book tickets online too but it seems only 30 days in advance also.
Here is the booking site. Maybe if you e-mail them they might be able to issue a ticket for when you want to go?
Are you having trouble with the visa for Chile, Argentina or both? I always found that when places needed proof of onward travel when I had to apply for a visa in advance, my rtw ticket was good enough even for one of the fussiest countries in the world (Russia).
They sure plan on mucking you around! Would it not be possible to have your accommodation prebooked in Buenos Aires and then accommodation pre-booked for Santiago to proove you plan on going to those places? If you did that, then you could cancel some nights accommodation if you really did not plan to stay in those places all that time.
both actually..but chile embasssy i spoke to and they have agreed to see me in person and would probably give me the visa...but argentina embassy needs an exit ticket,,they told me that even if they give me the visa the airlines wont fly me in if i dont have a proof of exit,..i thought they were just making it up,,but i called aerolineas argentinas ( i fly to BA from Sao paulo with them)..and they told me yes if i dont have an exit ticket from argentina they wont let me fly from SP,,but they didnt mention this when i was booking my one way ticket with them over the phone..so lets see..if i get a bus ticket fine...if not i will buy a plane ticket..but i am not planning on not to go to these places as i have already booked tickets to easter island .
i do appreciate the concern of u guys..thanks for the support!
so when i plan to go to russia i should be prepared!
Well you would have proof that you plan on leaving simply by the fact you have got the flight from Santiago - Easter Island within a short time frame after your date of arrival.
Russia has the same sort of crazy regulations that you are talking about (only worse) and when I applied for a visa there I didn't have a flight in to or out of the country. I was able to proove to the embassies satisfaction that I was going to enter when I said I was and also leave when I said I was. This was able to be proved despite the fact I had no train, bus or plane ticket to or from Russia simply by the fact that I had a round the world ticket landing in Kiev/Ukraine and then departing a few weeks later from Helsinki/Finaland. Realistically I could have stayed longer than I told them I was going to if I wanted to be an illegal, but even the stubborn Russian visa people could see by the fact I had flights prior to and after the dates I requested the visa for, that I was planning to leave in the validity period of the visa. If they could see it you should be right to get a visa with the tickets you have now.
As long as you got the visa, by the time you actually plan on getting to Argentina, you could probably have purchased that bus ticket online incase the airline asks for proof of an exit. I am yet to be asked this by an airline, but it does sometimes happen depending on how high risk they think you are of overstaying. Even if you purchased that bus ticket the day before your flight was scheduled to land in Buenos Aires just to be on the safe side that would do (assuming you got your visa issued).

yes thats exactly what i would like them to understand..and probably they would understand.and i would buy the bus ticket as they are available to avoid any problms with the airlines.
also i have tickets from cusco to lima , and lima to san diego, california.
lets hope for the best
thanks for sharing ur experience with me.
finally managed to work things out..e mailed a bus agency , they agreed to let me book the ticket 40 days in advance, and i hope that should help.
thanks everyone for your invaluable suggestions!
