I'll be in NYC for the first time in August, and going to see an evening show of Spamalot at the Schubert. What is acceptable attire for the theatre around this time of year? Do I need to pack an evening gown or are jeans and smart shirt acceptable?
Thanks in advance!
Jeans and smart shirt is fine. I was just at Broadway this April and was shocked that people could actually buy Coke and popcorn to eat in the theatre like it was at the movies. It's not a very formal kinda place.
Yep, I would say most anything is fine. As long as you're dressed they'll let you in and jeans and a smart shirt wouldn't be at all out of place. Some people will wear nice dresses or a suit coat, but you probably won't get any real fancy dress unless it's opening night.
In general, bring very light clothes,
august is a hell in here. But aways carry a light jacket, cause there's AC everywhere and americans like it high.
You can enter to the theater with the outfit you used during the day.
Good advice, thankyou all.
