Video size question?

Travel Forums System Talk Video size question?

Hi Guys,

I just uploaded two videos. They are both the same footage. One is a 17MB WMV the other a 5MB FLV. I was going to post them side my side, the idea being that that the High Quality one could be used be Broadband folks while the Low Quality one could be viewed by Dial up folks.

On upload completion I noticed a message saying fliker (sorry forgot the name) was converting the video to it's own format for best display. Erm, in that case am I right in assuming the HQ and LQ video clips I uploaded are now the same file size again? I know the quality of the LQ one will be poor in that case. So if they are the same file size then there's no need for me to display two? Correct?

Also if I linked with Youtube or the like would it make a difference. I would like to have one vid for broadband and one for dial up, or the folks currently sitting in a fiendish little cyber cafe somewhere in the world looking at 12 year old on Quake take take all the bandwidth

I'm *pretty* sure all these services will just resize it down regardless of what you supply. The only possible advantage might be if you supply it in an even more compressed version than they use - perhaps that way you can force a smaller version on their side.

Thanks for that. As I thought.

I tried a super compressed size, but the video turned out looking like something from the view point of bumblebee's pixelated nightmare.

I will stick with the high quality:)
