My friend and I are going to India, Nepal and Sri Lanka and we have been looking at how much spending money we need.

We want to stay in hosetls most of the time but have the occasional night, or two in moderate luxury. We want to do all the touristy things i.e National Parks, eating out, museums, rafting etc etc. We have looked and says on average over max of 2000 rupees a day??

As we are going for approx 8 weeks do you reckon about £1700.00 enough??

Trying to see how much overtime I will have to do before Sept!

Help much appreciated

2000 Rs a you should live amazingly for that amount!!!!! If thats your daily budget your do well!!!
I spent way less than that an managed to get around the South India easily enough, obviously allow for trains/flights/posh hotels...but that amount will do you beyond well!!! Happy Travelling!!

I was getting by on 15-20US a day most the time (in India) and on some occasions I even got by on $10US for one day living it really cheap.

I haven't travelled to either of the other countries you mention so I can't really comment on those for a budget.

Obviously the more money you save the more you can live like royalty, but you should have plenty unless you plan on climbing past base camp at Mount Everest or staying in 5 star hotels.

I believe Rs 1000-1200 would be sufficient for a day, but anything less than that would be stretching urself....
