disagree with Sam's assessment of why people can be aloof in Van. Seems like a very snotty way to be. Because you are new and there will be more new folks next week. That excuses nothing. Now, if you trot out a pair of bongos and our eyes glaze over, that's a whole different story.

I hope your right, I guess in a city of 4 million, everyone cant be like that.

I hear you loud and clear about the bongos!

Any idea if theres much work in the IT industry in Vancouver?

Hi,

Finding somewhere to live in Vancouver in Jan will be no problem based on my experience of the last two years. The drive is great, Main St. is a nice area too. Lot's of little communities. Basically I agree with all the other people - craigslist and the georgia straight online are good places to look.

Aloof is a part of city life and I found Canadians/Vancouverites to be great.
