I just read that Derry in Northern Ireland has one of the few remaining walled cities in the UK. Might be worth a look.

York and Chester are walled cities and are worth a visit, especially York. Romania also has plenty of centuries-old castles.

I think one of the most medieval touristic site is the Bayeux tapestry, in Normandy. If your interested in medieval history it all starts here. Theres a good display that translates the tapestry and the battle of Hastings.

And the rest of Northern France has heaps of Medieval towns and castles. Brittany is the place! Dinan, Renne, and Fougères look like towns from the 13th century. And the castle in Fougères is a perfect example of French Middle ages fortress. Look it up - this is the place I would say best resembles what is left of the middle ages in Europe.
