Hey all people of the travelling mindset!
I've just had a really cool evening with some friends, a few drinks, some food, some crackin comedy and its just hit me that in 4 days i'm going travelling on my 1st major trip!!!
Im hitting England 1st, not so exotic but wanna see my friends before i go, then Budapest, then exit festival, a week in berlin before flying east to China, S.E.A and then onto Oz. I'm pretty sure it could be a longtime before i come back to Belfast (where i'm from), and im feelin a bit wavey gravy, really gettin excited now but also feelin sad because im gonna miss so many people.
I know this post isnt really a 'please help', or 'does anyone know', or even a 'i know what to do', I just felt like tellin all you crazies that this is some really funky s**t! If any of you are having similar pre travel experiences or fancy retelling what it was like just before your big trip i'd love to read about it :-}

Ive no tales Eddie - lm just downright jealous - the weather in Belfast has been crap lately and cold - and lm soooooo jealous!!
Enjoy - lm sure its only like 3 days now until you head off - enjoy and keep safe
Thanks for the well wishes, sorry that Belfast's been crappy lately, fingers crossed it brightens up again soon!
Have you no travel plans yourself at the minute?
No major travel plans unfortunately - well l was in Chicago & Illinois for ten days at the start of June, and lm going to London next weekend and prob Edinburgh the weekend after that!!! But nothing serious!!
Starting a new job at the end of July, which l need to get my teeth into, plus lve got the second year of my post grad course to do!! I wish l had more time available!
BUT - l am hoping to go somewhere in Jan/Feb - at the minute toying with Brazil, or l may just go back to Thailand!! Either way l will most likely be doing it solo for the first time which is scary but good!!
I know EXACTLY how you feel cuz the same thing happened to me earlier today.
I'm leaving on Saturday for New Zealand and I'll be there for a year (if everything goes well). I was out with my friends earlier today and they were saying things like "OMG, I could never do what you are doing." And I said to them "You know if I hadn't been drinking all day I'd say shut up you're freaking me out!!!"
I think it'll really hit me when I actually get there. Well, that's not true. I have a friend coming with me the first week and after he leaves............THEN it will really hit me. EEK!!!
Oh well, that's part of the experience, right???
I actually go travelling in 4 days also!! Leave for NY on monday and am soooo excited!!
I finished my job last friday and have been lazing around this week tying up loose ends and packing my rucksack. I can believe i have at least another 52 weeks of this!! woohoo
Have a great trip.
Oh and by the way, if England is your visit stop over, make sure you bring an umbrella!! Wimbledon has started, therefore bringing the rain with it!
i know how you feel i did the same last year and i even left my boyfriend behind so i could do it! id say the first week is hard purely as you are adjusting, but over time you do get used to it and believe me it goes so quick it will be over before you know it so make the most of every moment and just think that your friends back home will be so jealous of what you are doing..
you go back expecting so much has changed and it really hasn't same old people doing the same old things.
embrace every second.
I am off travelling again in Jan and who knows when ill be back! x
Careful you lot cos you're inspiring a great deal of travel envy right here! But I alraedy had a fair bit. In recent years, my brothers have been to Mongolia, Hong Kong, China, Egypt, Germany, Switzerland, UK and then some! One of them is about to head to Spain ... I'd love to go to Spain!
Hopefully soon i;ll be able to post here about my upcoming trip and make everyone else jealous for a change!
you can add my name to that list! i'm leaving in less than a month (EEE!!), and everyone around me is telling me how great it'll be (and it will!) and then also taking long breaths in at how long i'll be gone (over a year). i'm so excited, but at the same time i know i won't see friends and family for a while..and my little sister is turning 11 this year, so (as she wonderfully likes to point out) i'll be missing her through grade 6. it doesn't seem like a lot, but man! does it ever pull at your heartstrings. (and grade 6! come on! the year of the co-ed talks!) it's like a horribly balanced balance. i guess that's a good thing?
well, i hope you have a great trip!!
