Hi, in August I will be traveling from Split to Istanbul. I am trying to find the quickest and cheapest way to go about making this trek. I've looked into flights from Zegrab, Vienna, Sarajevo, etc...but they are expensive. I found a flight from Belgrade to Istanbul for a reasonable price, but then how do I get to Belgrade?!

Any advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers
Matt

Belgrade is easy - get to Zagreb and take a train - only 8 hours I think.

Oh also - as a frequent traveller to Istanbul ... and American, make sure you have 20-30 US dollars on you to buy the American visa (stamp) at the Turk Airport. iv seen people left at the border in Bulgaria once who didnt have the correct cash.

i think there's also a train from split to belgrade, you'll have to ask when you get to the bus station. it's long and painful, though, haha.

no im quite sure you need to go to Zagreb first. I would be very surpirsed if there was a direct train from Split to Belgrade. Zagreb is your best option. Id skip the flight and take the train via Sofia, much better.
