Oktoberfest! Well everything is booked or overpriced - obviously. Does anyone know about keeping luggage in the Munich trainstation lockers during the festival? is it super expensive? and is there usually lockers available if you just show up? are there alot of lockers in the station? We are planning to just arrive - throw our bags in a locker and go drinking.

Oh and I just read on another reputable travel site that Germans pee in the lockers...is this true or like the fabled Blarney Stone - Irish pee stories of folklore?

Im assuming Germans use the toilets not the lockers.

I just don't want to get pee on my bag. I hate when that happens.

I really wanted to go to the Oktoberfest, but after doing the sums it looked to cost around £800-900ish! Thats very expensive for a few days, maybe next year...

Good luck with the lockers tho

There are some hilarious rumours about Germans spread on TP lately. First Michael O'Leary says we must have a terrible sex life and now this...

All the Germans I have met so far (quite a large number in fact ;)) do not pee in lockers, but use toilets.

Therefore it is probably save to leave your bag at Munich Hauptbahnhof or alternatively at Ostbahnhof where you can store your luggage in lockers for up to three days. According to the website of Munich prices for 24 hours are 1 € for a small, 2 € for a medium, and 3 € for a large locker. Sounds quite alright to me!

If you decide to stay for the night you could also always try couchsurfing.

Hope this helps and if you need me to translate anything else, let me know.

Steff

P.S.: After Oktoberfest you will know that all the rumours spread are NOT TRUE .
