Tibet is now opened, so, I am planning again to make this trip ini September or October.
I plan to make a journey to Mt. Kailash area and continue to the origine source of Indus river. it is about 4 days from Kailash and Gu Ge Kingdom can be included. The whole trip will take about 4-6 weeks. The best time is September, October.Anybody interested to participate and share the cost is welcome to contact me. I am 58 year old female mountain enthusiast and I have been in Tibet before. I plan to take porters and cook.
If anybody interested, please post your response . Thanks.

Was there last march. I am not 100% sure about this but it seems that you will need to arrange a tour in order to get the permit. At least that is what is being reported. Hope this helps in your planning

Good luck on the trip, its a great place as you know

Nice, I just posted a topic on the Asia forum about Tibet. My friend and I are going in July, and I've also heard that one needs to travel with a tour guide in order to get the permit. I'm waiting for some confirmation with travel agencies in China.
