I'm from SoCal, but I've never really been up north. I'm planning of passing through San Fran, but I'm not entirely sure what there is to see up there! Reply to this post or just catch me on my chat:

Also, I should have mentioned the whale watching trips. You can take those from Santa Cruz, Moss Landing , or Monterey.

If you are really brave, there are boats that go from San Francisco to the Farallon Islands, and where they put you in a steel cage and you in scuba gear and they lower you into the water next to where there are Great White Sharks that you can take pictures of. This is way too scary for me (and for most people), however.
