First of all, I'd like to say i'm not going on a drug fuelled frenzy, I have just heard you can find drugs relatively easy and without much trouble from the police, but was just wondering what sort of punishments there are for drug use in India (going to Goa and Mumbai). I know this is easy information to find, but was wondering if anybody has had experience in these places, ie do you get approached by drug dealers, do police perform random searches, etc etc.

I would again like to say I am not going to India to take drugs, I am however interested in the stories I have heard of weird and wonderful drugs being relatively easy to get away with, particularly in Goa. I understand prison sentences are harsh, so basically any information that can be given would be helpful.

Thanks, Simon.

Getting drugs used to be very easy in a place like Goa especially the Anjuna beach area, but things have tightened up a bit now after the infamous Scarlet murder case, which is a scar on India's tourism industry.

I would advise u to keep away from such things becoz if ur accidently caught with drugs then there is no escape

Didn't know they were so widely available there, just thought they were that easy in Costa Rica.

I live in a country where you can buy this "legally". In my opinion you are playing with fire by buying it on the street in India. You never know if it is a police officer selling it. I would get a bad trip by smoking it anyways because of my fear to get caught. So no, I never smoked in India. Allthough I would like to try the "legal" bhang lassi in Varanasi;)

Bhang lassi is worth trying but be careful the lassi glass is too big

Also u can try the " Toddy" or " Tadi" which is quite common in India, sweet drink but when properly brewed is intoxicating
