£3,000...6-8 weeks...what would you do?

Travel Forums General Talk £3,000...6-8 weeks...what would you do?

For reasons I don't wish to explain, my travel plans have been put on hold...

However, I have £3,000 and 6-8 weeks to make the most of, starting in less than two weeks!

A little inspiration is needed please! Can you throw some ideas at me, or share what you would do/have done in a similar situation. I know I have to figure it out myself (and quickly) but some opinions may guide me in the right direction... literally!

Many thanks! :)

I should mention that anywhere vaccinations are needed isn't an option at the moment (huuuuge phobia i'm not ready to face up to) :(

Why don't you try inter-railing, you can get a pass for most of Europe for about £300 for a month then travel around to your hearts content. You could also go with a single country pass and really get to know one European Country.

Following on from the inter rail thing you could take train and follow the old Orient Express route! Head to Turkey via train. Istanbul, blue mosque, party and art all in one. Take a cheap flight home.

Once in Turkey you if feeling adventurous you could head down to Syria, the middle east awaits!

Hi, thanks for your suggestions! Inter-railing is a good option but I spent four months in Europe last year...and it would be great to visit somewhere else. That said, there is still soooo much to see in Europe and inter-railing is a good way to go about it!

I love the idea of the Orient route, thank you for that I'll be looking into it!!

i would go to oz and try (if possible, prices must be checked here) to go to antarctica! though i think you may need a bit more for that...(but still pretty neat!)

edit: a lot more than that. hm.

Thank you for your suggestions...

Just an update - I decided to go to Canada (British Columbia & Alberta), and leave on Thursday for four weeks. In the end, I couldn't stretch my time any longer than a month which is a shame, but I'll make the most of it!!!

Sam :)
