I will be visiting Varna, Bulgaria and driving along the Black Sea south towards Turkey in mid August.
I am told I cannot take my rental car across the border to Turkey and I want to visit Istanbul.
Does anyone know if there is a bus service or train service betwen this part of Bulgaria and Istanbul.
I ckecked the airlines but it does not seem practical as I would have to back track through Europe to get to Istanbul.

YES!.. indeed there are lots of companies that have bus service between Bulgaria and Istanbul.
Metro Turizm is one of them, as well as Kamil Koc. You can see their webpages and check the times/prices.
As much as I know, those buses are NOT charter and usually pretty comfortable and reliable.
Here you go.. that is the link you have to use :
and also, this is the Varna (Bulgaria) number of Metro Turizm, who has buses between Varna and Istanbul.
Just call : 00 359 52 501 636
Thank very much for the info.
