I'm not sure what exactly was up for me because when it went all strange it wouldn't let me into any of the pages. It would say it was there, but nope I was still on the "main" page:(

Hey all, I think apologies are in order from me

I asked for some settings to be switched over, then went to bed and didn't find out about the drama till Saturday morning. I really was quite confident it would work, hence the nonchalantness of it all.. It's been reverted to the status quo for now; I'll make sure it is really good to go before messing with that again!! It is a worthwhile change though, basically moving some of our static resources to servers around the world for faster / local delivery.

Anyway, sorry

You know, that is one of the reasons I really like Travellerspoint. The people are very genuine. It's not every blogsite, or website that someone will come on and say what Peter did. Well done to him for that in this day and age of anonymous web site management.

A host of people are currently experiencing the opposite on an internet storage hosting company whereby the management are literally telling the customers to shut up and stop complaining and tough luck that they(the company) have lost their files and still they have to paid for it.

Never once here on TP have I seen people argue on the forums like in a lot of other online forums or the like over issues etc. It's a credit to travellerspoint and the people running it and long may it continue.

And no, no one bribed me to say that

Ah... Now this explains the new "static" subdomain I noticed in the source code. :)

Thanks everyone; your comments are what make long, blistering hours staring at code so worthwhile!

On the note of what we were trying to do, we have now done it again. I'm noticing the site being a lot faster from Norway and Peter is seeing the same from Australia. Wondering if any of you are also noticing the difference? Basically a whole bunch of files are synced all around the world and depending on where you are accessing the site from you should always be served the files closest (fastest) to you.

Feedback appreciated!

Now that you mention it: yes, it is faster indeed!
Now typing faster and the travelguide is done within a few months
